More than anything, it bothered me because it felt out of character. If her mission hadn’t been to save her sister I would have been okay with her getting sidetracked but as a sister, I can’t imagine getting sidetracked knowing my sister was out there in danger. The whole reason she was at that place was to find her sister but Raffe comes along and her mind kind of goes blank. Raffe whisks her away and her sister doesn’t cross her mind immediately and that felt so wrong. For example, I loved the scene where Raffe and Penryn are reunited, but it was ruined soon after. There were some highlights that gave me hope. Then her sister gets kidnapped again and the whole plot felt like a mirror of the first book. This frustrated me but I was still loving the book at this point. In the first book, she was all about saving her and now she couldn’t get pass her sisters appearance and changes. Then, I started to get frustrated with the way Penryn was treating her little sister. I was so excited to read the second book. I loved the slow burn kind of relationship that Penryn and Raffe had. The dynamic between the characters was amazing. I wish I could, but my brain refuses to look beyond them. Honestly, if you are willing to look past all the plot holes, you might still find this series enjoyable.
This series could have been the next big thing, but it ended up being a huge letdown (for me). This was such a disappointment because there was so much potential. Spoiler Free Thoughts: This series starts out with a boom but it all goes down hill from there. This is exactly how I feel about this series.
